Question from user:

In the past few days, each time I and a small group of Adobe Acrobat users launch the application, it becomes unresponsive, and we are forced to wait for it to regain functionality. Occasionally, it functions properly, but its behavior is highly unpredictable. This problem did not exist last week. Despite updating to the latest version through the provided updates, the issue persists. I attempted to enhance the situation by temporarily disabling virus scanning, but it did not yield any improvement. Furthermore, I experimented with disabling enhanced security and protected mode, but unfortunately, these measures did not prove to be effective either. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have, as this situation is becoming increasingly bothersome.

Solution 1:

Update Adobe Acrobat GPO Policies.

Edit>Preferences>Security enhanced>uncheck “Enable Protected Mode at startup”

Path (for Reader): SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown

Path (for Acrobat Pro): SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

Reg Value Type: DWORD

Reg Value Name: bProtectedMode

Reg Value Data: 0

Solution 2:

Solution 2:

  1. Open Acrobat > Menu > Disable new Acrobat.
  2. Edit > Preferences or (Ctrl+k) > in the Categories:
    • General > Uncheck show me messages when launching Acrobat.
    • Accessibility > Uncheck “Enable assistive technology support.”
    •  Reading > Pages vs Documents > Do not read documents.
    •  Search > Maximum Cache: 100000 MB then Purge Cache Content
    •  Security > Uncheck “Use SafeLogic”
    • Security Enhanced > Uncheck “Enable Protected Mode” and Enable Enhance Security
  3. Close Acrobat and Open run from the start menu of Windows > type “temp” and clear all the content that can be deleted.
  4. Open run from the start menu of Windows > type “%temp%” and clear all the content that can be deleted.
  5. Open run from the start menu of Windows > type “prefetch” and clear all the content that can be deleted.

Solution 3:

1. Edit>Preferences>General>uncheck “Show online storage when saving files.”

2. Edit>Preferences>Security enhanced>uncheck “Enable Protected Mode at startup”.

Restart Acrobat.

If that doesn’t work.
