How to activate Verizon DSL without going through their installation CD

INTRODUCTION

Some Verizon modem and routers ask you to activate your Verizon DSL account again if you reset their modem. When you open any website, it just redirects you to activate.verizon.net. You will be downloading and installing the activation software if you follow the screen instructions. Most of the time, it will just hang forever and unsuccessful.

Even you enter the correct username and password inside the modem using the IP 192.168.1.1 and the status says connected. You are still being redirected to activate.verizon.net. I have been this situation many times and I had to call Verizon tech support.

This article describes how to activate Verizon DSL, if you have entered the correct username and password inside the modem and the status is connected, follow these instructions.

1. Open Internet Explorer and type the following URL in the address bar:

192.168.1.1/Verizon/redirect.htm

2. Press Enter key to connect.

3. Select DISABLE when it takes you to the next screen which says in red: RESTRICTED.

4. Close Internet Explorer and open it again to connect to any website.
