How to play .mp4 video files with Windows Media Player

You download some video files with extension ending with .mp4 format, which is MPEG4 video. If you play it with Windows Media Player, you may only hear sounds but no videos on screen. The player also displays the error that you will need to download codec for Media Player, when you click the link and it will redirect you to Microsoft website. The codec from Microsoft site will not help.
