How to fix web browser page cannot be displayed

This articles only focus on the web browser cannot connect to websites but your other programs such as Skype, or MSN Messenger still work. You local area network connection says it’s connected. And you can also Ping to outside websites.

This normally happens after you did virus scan and cleaned up some malware. It is because the malware modified your web browser settings. It could be your Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome. If the computer is used for more than one person using different logins, each person has to login themselves to change back the settings.

To fix Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome page cannot be displayed, follow these instructions:

For Internet Explorer:

Step 1: Click Tools menu, go down to Internet Options.

Step 2: Click the Connections tab.

Step 3: At the bottom of the window, click the LAN settings button.

Step 4: Under the Proxy Server section, uncheck the box that says: Use a proxy server for your LAN.

Step 5: Click Ok to save the settings and test your IE.

For Firefox:

Step 1: Click Tools menu, go down to Options.

Step 2: Click the Advanced tab.

Step 3: Under the big tabs, there are few small tabs. Click the Network tab.

Step 4: Click Settings button.

Step 5: Click the No Proxy or Use System Proxy Setting button.

Step 6: Click Ok to save settings and test Firefox.

For Chrome, Chrome is using your system’s internet proxy settings, so you can go to Control Panel.

Step 1: Go to Control Panel, and go to Internet Options.

Step 2: Click the Connections tab.

Step 3: At the bottom of the window, click the LAN settings button.

Step 4: Under the Proxy Server section, uncheck the box that says: Use a proxy server for your LAN.

Step 5: Click Ok to save the settings and test your IE.
